ABOUT THE IMAGES

Due to their disposable nature and in many cases considerable age, extensive digital repair-work needed to be carried out on most of the images before they could be considered for the book. Burns, tears, holes, creases and the general effects of aging all required many hours of painstaking photo retouching and recolouring.

These are just a few examples of the kind of damage encountered in the course of assembling the image collection. Sadly, some items proved too far gone and could not be repaired in time for publication. Hopefully some of these other images will be made available either here, or in future printed works.
